About The Ethel Barrett Archive
Preserving a Legacy of Storytelling for a New Generation.
Welcome to the digital home of the Ethel Barrett Archive.
For decades, Ethel Barrett—known to many as “The Story Lady”—mentored generations through her unique gift for weaving spiritual truth into the fabric of everyday life. Her voice reached thousands through the ABC Radio Network and stations like WPTR, and her books became staples in homes and churches worldwide.

The Mission
As the grandson of Ethel Barrett and the caretaker of her intellectual property, my goal is simple: Restoration.
Much of this archive has sat in boxes for years—original 1940s typewritten scripts, fading master recordings on analog tape, and out-of-print manuscripts. Through Barrett Enterprises LLC, we are meticulously digitizing, restoring, and sharing these “lost” works.
What You’ll Find Here
By subscribing to this Substack, you are joining a journey of discovery. We are bringing these works out of the vault and into the digital age:
Never-Before-Published Scripts: Experience original radio dramas, like the 1949 broadcast of “Fear,” restored from the original typewriter pages.
Archival Audio: Listen to rare recordings and “micro-stories” recovered from original master tapes.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look: Follow the technical and creative process of preserving a mid-century media archive.
Join the Journey
The Archive is more than just a collection of files; it is a living testimony to the power of a story well-told. Whether you grew up listening to Ethel on the radio or are discovering her work for the first time, I am glad you are here.
Most of our content is free to ensure these stories reach as many people as possible. If you’d like to support the technical costs of this restoration project, we offer a $5 monthly subscription option to help fund the “Build.”
